Argus

Argus is the newsletter from lletrA, the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Open University of Catalonia, UOC) portal on Catalan literature.

Argus selects the most interesting content from and about Catalan literature published recently on the internet (preferably during the same or the previous month).

Since 2009, each month, we invite a leading figure from the world of literature (a writer, critic, editor, bookseller, professor, librarian or cultural manager) to take part. This guest chooses, and comments on, the recommended content: a video, an article, an audio recording, a podcast, a website and a blog.

We feel that the newsletter’s name is particularly apt, given that it refers to both a person who has an eye on everything that is going on and an information service that is available to everyone interested in literature. The IEC’s Dictionary of the Catalan Language defines argus thus:

1 m. Someone who keeps watch to ensure that nothing gets by.
2 m. A service keeping writers, artists, and artistic directors abreast of all the news and reviews from the press on their work and activities.
